Our CEO - Brian Jones

From ensuring safety on the streets to protecting computer networks, Brian Jones brings a unique perspective and expertise to Public Safety MSP

One thing is for sure, Brian Jones is not your typical computer geek. From earning World Wrestling medals to over 3 decades of service in Law Enforcement, Brian does anything but hide behind a computer screen all day. Helping people, businesses, and organizations stay safe in the both the real and cyber worlds is his passion

As a child from a military (DAC) family, Brian traveled the world from a young age and learned to how to navigate cultural differences with ease He made his move to Southern California in the late 1970’s and has considered himself a So Cal resident since then.

From Programmer to Owner- Evolution of an IT Expert

Brian started where most “IT” professionals from the 1980s did – as a programmer. After honing his technology skills for years as a programmer, Brian stepped into a Managing Partner role for an IT services firm, Acorn Technology. He maintained his leadership role at Acorn until 1994. With the birth of his first child, Brian realized he wanted to be in control of his own destiny and launched Amicus Technology so he could build the company he envisioned.

Where Public Safety and Technology Meet

As a S/R Deputy, Brian got to see first-hand the evolution of the types of technologies he was providing to the traditional businesses make their way through the public safety sector. As more and more agencies began to move towards paperless systems and advanced communication tools, he witnessed how these technologies created efficiencies and enabled public safety workers to focus more and more of their time on the constituents they served – as well as seeing first hand the difficulties line officers face when the technology failed.

He also began to see how the public safety sector was becoming a favored target for cyber criminals. The amount of PII and CJIS types of data stored and processed by public safety agencies is massive and makes them a prime target for cyber criminals. 911 PSAP systems can’t be offline, JDIC/CJIS can’t be rendered inaccessible, and the flow of communications from dispatchers to public safety workers has to remain constant.

It is with his in-depth knowledge of the day to day work of public safety agencies coupled with his technology and cybersecurity expertise that Brian formed Public Safety MSP almost a decade ago.

“A lot of why I do what I do in both my business and in the department is just about trying to take care of people” Brian says said. By simplifying the technology side and protecting public safety organizations against external cyber threats, functioning issues, and their computers not working, they are able to focus on doing their job so they can do what they do best, protecting and helping those they serve.
